It's that time of the year again! Crisp air, Busier than ever back to school for the mommas out there. It is so important to indulge in self care as it is best time to cleanse and detoxify as you would not want the illnesses that follows whenever there is a change in the season.

I was always very interested in natural ways of healing our bodies and finally got certified as a Ayurvedic Beauty Therapist in 2014. Since, then I have been incorporating the following practices depending on the Doshas we are born with like Vata, Pitta or Kapha.

Fall is a tough time for vata imbalances and believe it or not most of the disease begins in our digestive tract, If we know how to heal our gut, We can prevent a majority of causes of falling ill during this transitional period.

Most of run a full schedule juggling a variety of roles on a daily basis hardly stopping for a breather, In such cases, you are very much prone to Vata imbalances as weather turns drier.

  1. Once of the best fall meals from my Indian kitchen would be the good ol Kitchari with turmeric, cumin, fennel and black pepper to aid in digestion.
  2. For detoxing include root vegetables like squashes and try to eat what's in season by visiting the farmer's market weekly.
  3. Going back to age-old panchkarma therapies, Try gargling with organic coconut oil, Drink hot tea brewed with a slice of ginger. You can alternately use flaxseed oil as well. My favorite is here: http://amzn.to/1KZRJqe
  4. For external moisture, slather and massage with Sesame if you are Vata( thin frame, bony and quick in speech), Coconut and Olive if you are Pitta (Warm body temperature, Oilier skin and fine hair) & Almond or Mustard if you are Kapha ie Me! ( Thick hair,Slow metabolism,Skin is cool to the touch).
  5. Try adding Psyllium seed drink to your  Kitchari or hot soups  You can get it http://amzn.to/1OJw5Gm
  6. Adding ground flaxseed daily for its hormone detoxifying benefits Get it here: http://amzn.to/1LqKzKf
  7. Also try to add detoxifying teas for cleansing your liver and making you feel relaxed. This is my favorite. http://amzn.to/1KZRqvu
  8. Be sure to rest more, slow dow your schedule, take time to breathe and meditate during your me time.
  9. Take time to pay attention to how your body feels, connect with nature and life that is happening all around you all the time.

Until next,
